The subject of my last newsletter must have hit a sore spot with youth workers. Based upon the responses I have received since its release two weeks ago, it seems as if this topic (”Keeping Senior Highers from `Checking Out` of Youth Group”) has certainly gotten our attention. I have received several e-mails and phone calls from youth pastors, pastors, youth workers, and parents of teenagers, which have contained ideas and suggestions, along with a bunch of other questions.

Youth Ministry Trend: Keeping Senior Highers from “Checking Out” of Youth Group

The following scenario has become common in many churches: teenagers are active and involved in all phases of youth ministry from junior high through high school freshmen and sophomores. They love youth group and seem to be excited about being involved in everything. Then they “hit the wall,” so to speak. Kids who were once involved in almost every church program seem to become disinterested and apathetic juniors and seniors.
