Adults & Kids:Ideas for Healthy Intergenerational Connections
September 1st, 2006I am convinced that most millennials will respond positively to more intergenerational connections in our churches. According to the National Network of Youth Ministries, 90 percent of today’s teenagers have indicated that they would appreciate an adult mentor. After all, this is a generation that grew up with healthier relationships with their parents and other adults than previous generations. Don’t forget that this is age group who experienced the “baby on board” signs on minivan windows, the “my child is an honor roll student” bumper stickers, and the ever-present, politically charged “soccer moms.” This is also the generation of little league coaches, tennis and golf lessons, and SAT tutoring.
