WATCH OUT FOR SHIFTING PARADIGMS IN STUDENT MINISTRY

Many people are familar with the legend of the young Native American brave named Falling Rock who became lost during his first solo trip into the vast American forest. Even though his family searched and searched for him, he was never found. As a result, warning signs that read, “Watch Out for Falling Rock” line the United States interstate highway system.
Perhaps it’s time for youth workers everywhere to post signs at the entrances of our churches that display this wording, “Watch Out for Shifting Paradigms.” (more…)

BEING INTENTIONAL ABOUT PRAYING FOR HARVEST WORKERS

A few years ago I heard a well-known Christian leader make this revealing statement: “The typical church has never produced even one missionary in its entire history!” Wow. I wonder if he was correct about that statistic. Perhaps there is at least some anecdotal evidence that would substantiate his claim.

I recently had the opportunity to talk to the leadership team (pastor, deacons, and missions committee) from one particular church that has been in existence for almost one hundred years. A group of local believers formed that fellowship in a small community just after the turn of the last century. One of the older members of that church made this remark, “I don’t think our church has ever sent out one of our own as a foreign missionary.”
